A new article in The Guardian explores how information and communication technology can be used to empower girls worldwide. Girls say the use of ICT can help them "reduce their sense of isolation, help acquire new skills, actively participate in national and global dialogues, learn about taboo subjects (such as reproductive health and HIV), and makes them feel safer and more in touch with family and friends, and strengthens self-esteem. They also feel ICT helps them improve their ability to express themselves, speak in public, and engage with adults and other decision makers to negotiate their needs and rights." Read more here.
